Email Tamer

A personal command-line tool for taming a Gmail inbox.

Email Tamer scans a Gmail mailbox, scores senders by how likely their mail is promotional, and helps its operator unsubscribe, file, or archive the noise. It runs locally on the operator's own computer against the operator's own mailbox. It is a personal project, not a product or a service — there is nothing to sign up for.

What it does

• Scores senders from message metadata, with guards against misreading order confirmations and receipts as marketing.
• Keeps a human-edited allowlist so senders already confirmed legitimate stop being re-flagged.
• Files wanted-but-not-urgent bulk mail under a label instead of the inbox.
• Emails the mailbox's owner a periodic summary of what changed.

Access it requests

It uses the Gmail API to read message metadata, manage labels and filters, and send its summary email to the mailbox owner. It does not read message bodies. All data stays on the operator's machine.
